Lou Man

Well Lou Man gave us a scare the other day. I got home late from lunch and could hear him having a fit. So I go into the house and neither of them are in the house. I figured he had a squirrel treed. Once I got into the back yard there is Lila but no Louie. He started barking again and now I know where he is. He's locked in the garage in the back. Seems when Dale left that morning he had to go in there to the 55 and get something. Little did he know Louie followed him in. So from 8:30 in the morning until 1:30 that afternoon, he was locked in the hot shop. Lucky for us he was okay, just very thristy. That evening he decided it was time to be a gopher and dig up the yard again. I once told someone that Beagles don't dig. Man was I wrong. So last night I went to Westlake and bought all the fencing they had. So now Lou Man is banished from that part of the yard. So far so good is all I can say. I have no clue what he's digging for maybe China. It just looks like little trenches all over the back yard.

Friends

You make lots of friends through work, some come and some go. Some you miss greatly, some you hardly notice have left. It seems here lately at work everyone is leaving for better jobs, or moving out of the area. Can't blame them for that. At least you get to still hear from them and know how they are doing. But today we at work lost a great friend. I've been there for 18 years and seems like he was always around somewhere, making jokes, having fun, eating my candy and recently he became the cookie monster. He loved those cookies. He also loved his grand daughter. Here lately he'd been going to all her games and just loving it. He was so proud of her. His illness happened so suddenly till it's still hard to believe he's gone. I guess a week ago is when it all started. He actually called me to tell me when his surgery was and that he'd be back to pester me before long. He got to where he couldn't see and was dizzy. After several tests a tumor was found on his brain. He was taking Plavix and had to stop it and in stopping it started having strokes. The tumor was removed but the strokes had already done their damage. Today I tell a good friend not good bye but I'll see you again some day. Save a place for us John we'll see you again Mr. Cookie Monster.

It's Lilly Time

It's time for new pictures. She's now 9 months old and 27 inches long. The Dr. says she's small for her age but her mom an dad are small so figures she'd be small. It's so nice getting to see pictures of her every week. I sure wish they lived closer to us. Dallas is just too far away.

The house is quiet now with Andrea gone, but it is nice to hear from her each day. I get to listen to how college is going and that she does actually miss her home here. I guess we're not so bad after all.

Elvis Remembered

This last Saturday night we attended the Elvis Remembered concert with the car club. There were 22 of us that went and it was great. Dee Carter puts on a really good show. The first hour was gosphel and the second was just Elvis and his songs.

But all in all last Friday was good. I took the afternoon off and spent it with Andrea, we went and saw the Mummy it was pretty good but I think the first 2 were better. Then Dale and I went to the ball game and it was really nice out. We really had a good time with our friends Sam and Vickie.

Today Andrea went back to college. Her little bug was loaded and I'm waiting to her from her. I figure in an hour she should call. She's such a wonderful daughter so loving....and sweet. It's hard when she leaves but she must go to finish what she's started. I know this year will be better because she'll have her own apartment and a room mate that she likes. And it's a really nice apartment too. I'd live there I know that. Lila and I will definitely miss her.

Now for the bad part of my week.

The Chevelle was at the AC shop and a car they were working on in front of it slammed in to the front of the Chevelle. So now who knows how long it will take to get it back. The grille, light, fender and possible damage to the radiator. Needless to say I wasn't happy. In fact I thought I might cry over it. But it will get fixed and back to me some day. All of this over getting the AC fixed.

Busy

It was a busy weekend. Which I haven't even had time to down load the pictures yet. But I will. Saturday we had a car deal to go to. It was a show and shine. My car is in the shop so Dale took his and I slept in late! How about that I haven't done that in a long time. I actually didn't get up until 9:30. The dogs and I slept and slept. Then I got up and went to the car deal. Dale had gotten up at 6:30 to meet everyone at IHOP for Breakfast. I just decided it was way to early for me. I stayed at the car thing for about 2 hours then Andrea and I hit the shops. It felt like we went everywhere.....Hobby Lobby, Big Lots, Furniture Row, Ashley Furniture, Lacks, Bed Bath and Beyond, Sam's, the Mall.....you name it we were there. My feet hurt so bad that evening. Then Sunday was my 29th Anniversary, yes we have made it through the good the bad and the ugly and I think now we're better than ever. Sunday night we met all the car club people at the Shade's out door concert and it was great. I love their music. It was good food, good friends an good Times. Vickie made us a heart shaped cake and they made Dale get down on one knee to give it to me, now that was a first. He protested but he did it. He was smiling the entire time so I don't really think he minded to much. And for everyone that doesn't I was looking for a new couch.....I bought one yesterday...Dale says it's my Anniversary Present. Last night after we got home we watched the Olympics, I think all of us were yelling for the Americans in the swimming Team competition. Some day France will learn not to bad mouth us. But way to go USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's Louie

Okay I have to post this funny picture of Louie. We were taking pictures of Lilly in her new outfit and Chan put a hat on her. Then we decided to put the hat on Louie and he actually let us. He's some dog. We tried to get Lila to do it but she'd have nothing to do with it. This has been such a fun week. And Louie was in the paper today for MyWestTexas.com Pets section. We have a star now. He's laying on the dishwasher door, he could do that when he was younger and lighter. Now he weighs in at 60 lbs. So I don't think my dishwasher could handle him now.

I know I'll be sad tomorrow about Chan and Lilly going home, but I've just had the best week with them. Maybe with them living so far away when they are here we just all appreciate them that much more. And I know Thomas is ready for them to get back. He'll get to see Ms. Lilly crawling now. It's amazing how fast they grow and learn.

Lilly Visit

As everyone knows I'm on vacation this week playing with the Lilly. She has been such fun. And she's also started crawling while she's been here. That was so neat. I miss so much till getting to see one new thing was just amazing. Thomas had to stay home so they could get new floors in their house. I know he'll be wishing he was here so he could see her crawling. It was surprise but she just took off.
I've been holding her and feeding her and just enjoying every minute of it. Her Grandpa likes her a little too I have to say. He turns into a big ole softy around her. We had to watch the dogs at first but Louie really likes her he even lets her pet him in her own way. Lila well she just watchs her and stays out of the way. I have to say this is the best vacation.

Busy Saturday

I was hoping for a nice quiet weekend, now who was I kidding. We got up early Saturday morning and met the car club people at 8:15 and headed to Stanton for a parade. Yes Stanton. If you've ever been through Stanton you'd best look fast. But I think all 2000 residences of Stanton showed up. There were more people and things in the parade than I would have ever imagined. It was fun but HOT! After it was over we all headed back to Midland to On the Border for Lunch. It was a good time. Dale and Bennie hid a Coconut Cream Pie from Sam. He loves those pies and Bonnie Miller made him one and brought it to the Parade. We all had a good laugh at Sam's expense when he went to look for it. After Lunch I went out to Vickie and Sam's and floated in the pool for a while. How nice that was. Their dogs were so cute. They have 3 bloodhounds and 1 sheltland type dog. The bloodhounds would come up and gently put their paws on me, they loved to be petted. I got home about 3:30 and took a nap with Louie and Lila. Then at 6:30 we headed to Odessa with the Patterson's and Austin's for a poker run with the Odessa car club. We went to each Sonic in Odessa and got a card the ones with the best hand won $150. Of course I didn't win, I only had a pair of 3's. During this run at the 3rd Sonic I got out with my purse and sat it on the table by me. Then Dale started saying hurry get your card so we can go, the weather was getting really bad. SO I hurried a little to fast and left my purse at the Sonic. About a mile or so down the road for some reason I realized it was gone so we turned around, my stomach was upset by now, but my lucky Angel must have been riding with me because believe it or not my purse was still on the table. So off we went to the next Sonic with Dale yelling at me over it.

All in all we had a great time, the weather held off which it was really lightning, and I didn't loose my purse!

July 4th

Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th. We had a busy weekend starting with Thursday before the 4th. I took Thursday off about 8:30 to moved some of Andrea's stuff to San Angelo. We got her an apartment for this year. I was a little worried about it, but the apartment is great. It's really big and nice. I think she'll really like it there. There is lots of security and that makes me feel better. But it's a really nice apartment and complex. They are the Emerald Point Apartments. I think I climbed stairs until my legs didn't want to move anymore. We got back home about 4 that afternoon. I don't know about Andrea but I was tired.

Friday I got up about 6 and got ready for the car show at Green Tree Country Club. We met all the car club people at IHOP for breakfast and then we all headed off to the show. We had bout 10 cars there from our club and it was a nice day. It did get hot about time to go but it was a nice day. I did get 2nd place with my Chevelle and it always surprised me when I win with it. I just never look at it as a nice enough car to win a trophy. But I do have to say it is nice to win. We all headed out and back home about 3:30. !

Saturday I got up and started in on Dale's work he had about 60 claims to get out that was a lot let me tell you. He finally finished them up yesterday. Saturday evening was our car club meeting so off we went to it about 6. There were lots of people there and lots of new faces too. Our club President has a wonderful place. Must be nice to have money is all I can say.

Sunday was spent relaxing and working on more claims. Mom and dad did come over for dinner I always like having them over. Then we were off again to a car club deal at the Museum. They have an outdoor concert every Sunday in the summer. Lots of people showed up with our club and everyone loved looking at the cars.

I think I need a weekend to rest!

I thought everyone would like to see the pictures of Chan, Thomas and Lilly. They are so good!

AC Saga Round 3

Okay if you read my blog you know I've been fighting with my AC now for probably 2 months. We started out just not cooling. So I called AHS they sent out a guy he got it cooling but said you need a new coil. Okay fine. They ordered a new coil which took 3 weeks to come in. So a different guy comes out to put it in. He's in the attic for 5 hours banging on things. He comes down says sorry this one is also broken. Well Duh why wouldn't it be after 5 hours of banging on it. So after much thought we decide to replace the unit in the attic, $3000 for it. I took off last Wed to get this done. Bosworth came out and stayed all day putting it in. I'm sure they were hot up there. They replace the unit, redo the duct work and put in all new copper tubing. So it's in they leave and tell us it may cool it may not, your outside heat pump is not a good one and needs replacing. Okay how much is that $3500 more. So we decide to see what happens. Of course it didn't cool. By this time I'm amazed. So I call AHS again and they send out the most wonderful man. He goes to the outside unit says it has no Freon, fills it up and is gone in 15 minutes and guess what I have cool air again. So now I'm wondering was I just stupid and believed idiots. Hmmm could be. But I have cool air back, so no more sleeping on the living room floor. Hip Hip Hooray!

I've decided this last month has just been my down slid of the roller coaster.

Dale's Computer Died (Finally)
Major Storms for Dale to work so he's on edge
Car Wreck...hurt back and neck
No AC for over a month
Stupid AC Guys (Several of these)
Chan got sick
Lilly Rolled off the Bed (OUCH)
Andreas Laptop Died
Andrea got sick

I'm ready for the up side of the roller coaster.

AC

If you'd of been here at work you'd of heard me complaining and complaining about my AC unit. I'm sure everyone here is tired of it. About a month ago our AC quit cooling. So I called the home warranty people they sent out a repair man. He goes up and says your cooling unit is leaking. But he left it there and charged it so we could continue to have cool air. Then last week after waiting 3 weeks for the new part, another man came with the new part. I knew I was in trouble when I told him where the AC unit was and he came back down from the attic saying he couldn't find it. I was like holy crap. So he goes back up there and says Okay I'll replace the coil. He was up there for 5 hours banging on something. Then he comes down sorry the new part is also broken. Well no wonder he probably beat it to death. And not only would it not work but he couldn't put the old one back in so we could have cool air. So for a over a week no AC in the bedroom side of the house. We have no windows to open so it's just HOT HOT HOT HOT! Dale can stand it I can't. So he sleeps in the bed and the dogs and I sleep in the floor in the living room, because that side of the house has AC. We have 2 units. Which you'd think that would make your electric bill really high but it actually lowers it. After nearly 2 week of sleeping on the floor, I am by now grouchy, and tired. Tomorrow we're having a new unit put in the attic. During the entire thing I've called and argued and called and argued with the Warranty People and the AC people wont even answer their phone. Until you don't have AC you don't miss it........ The picture Dale took one morning of me Louie and Lila. My bed buddies their not crazy they sleep in the nice cool living room too. I just want my bed back and my AC FIXED!

New Lilly Pictures

Okay I finally have the new pictures we took at the Texas Tour with Lilly, Chantel and Thomas. They turned out so cute. We had the best time. Well at least I did. And I know Dale did because he got to see Lilly and he went riding with the old cars. So we both had a good time.

Andrea went to Chan's this last weekend and got to play with Lilly for a few days. She also went to the Taylor Swift concert. I know she had lots of fun. But she does love her sister and Lilly.

Texas Tour

Last weekend we took a road trip to Waxahachie Texas. We left at 8 Friday morning and finally arrived there at 4 pm. Dale's GPS sent us on a wild trip let me tell you. We went to Hillsboro then to Italy and Avalon Texas. New towns for sure. Then it tried to send us up someone's drive way. I think it was having a confused day. But we finally made it only to get lost in Waxahachie for an hour. I finally spotted an old car and we followed it to the hotel. That was a long time to be in a car driving. And yes I drove down there. Once we got there it was nice seeing all the cars. The oldest was a 1910 and the little man could tell you about every bolt it had. Saturday Chan and Thomas brought Lilly to see me so I stayed there and Dale went riding with the club. He had a blast and so did I!!!!!! I don't have the Lilly pictures yet but when I get them I'll post them. Thomas is slacking on his picture duty. But we really did have a blast. We went shopping, swimming and Lilly just rolled around and around on the bed. She can sit up on her own too. It was a great day!

Shades

Okay now I have to post these cute Lilly pictures. The song about me and my shades comes to mind. We're leaving Thursday or Friday for Waxachachie to a car deal but on Saturday I'm not going and I'll get to see the little cutie. I'm so ready for a Lilly day. I know I've been so lucky to live so close to my parents. They have gotten to go to everything of my kids and I hope to do the same with mine. I know I'm missing to much. I can hear her starting to talk on the phone and the pictures are just wonderful. But there is nothing like an in person visit. I want to hold her and kiss her and play with her. I guess not getting to see them everyday makes when I do so much more special. The one that has helped is having Andrea at home off and on. And yes she'll be up there with Chan in a couple of years. But maybe by then I'll be use to the idea.

Weekend

Last weekend started out good and hot. Saturday Dale's mom moved to Austin. To me it was sad but a good thing. She'll be staying with her daughter Donna. They are going to live in Harwood and have goats, chickens and donkey's. I guess I'm a City Girl because that just doesn't sound like fun to me. But I do wish them the best. Saturday evening Dale, Andrea and I went to our car club meeting which is always fun. It was so hot till we left the old cars at home. Of course everyone else brought theirs so then we were wishing we'd taken them. But with no air conditioning it sure gets hot. Now mine has air conditioning but it doesn't do as good as the new cars do. After the meeting everyone met at the Texas Burger for Ice Cream. That was fun too. I probably didn't need the ice cream but it sure was good. Sunday Andrea and I went to the show to see What Happens in Vegas. It was so funny. I hadn't been to one that funny in a long time. Worth seeing that's for sure. After the show I was headed to see my mom and dad. I was sitting at the corner of Cuthbert and Midland Drive waiting for the light to turn green. All the sudden BAM! a big truck behind me hit my car. Now I have to say this was totally unexpected. I called Dale and 911. We had to wait a long time for the police to get there. By the time he did get there I was so hot and just felt sick. I wanted it all to be over with so I could just go home. The damage to my Mustang wasn't that bad $500 so he got no ticket and at the time I felt fine just too hot. In about an hour my neck was hurting and that night my shoulder was killing me. Now I felt really stupid because they kept asking me your sure your okay and I said yes I'm fine. So now what. I went to the Dr of course they did x-rays which I'll find out tomorrow about them. But I'm sure he'll want to do some type of treatments. The guy that hit me wants to just pay for my car damage and has already called me about picking up a check for it. He didn't want to file against his insurance. I'm so not knowing what to do. I guess I'll wait until in the morning and decide.

Ms Lilly

I had to post these pictures. I'm starting to need a Lilly fix. We're suppose to go to Dallas in June and I hope we do. But if the storms keep coming we might not get too. In that case I may have to go with Andrea when she goes in June. Which that is a thought. Hmmm may have to do that if we don't get to go. She is on the verge of sitting up on her own and has found her toes. I'm missing so much. Chan only has another week to work and then she's out for the summer. How nice would that be to be off for 3 months. Maybe in 10 years I'll find out.

Ashley Furniture

This last Friday our car club and several others in Midland/Odessa held a Show and Shine at Ashley Furniture. Now this started as a competition between Amarillo, Lubbock and Midland/Odessa to see who could get the most cars at the area Ashley Furniture store. Amarillo made the commit that they would kick Midland/Odessa's Butt. Well here's the car count, 57 for Midland, 40 for Lubbock and a big fat ZERO for Amarillo. Yep Midland/Odessa won! I'm sure everyone in Midland has heard of the Hot Dog Man, he was there and I have to say his hot dogs are GREAT! We also had our very own Elvis there in Sam Austin and his pink Cadillac. That is some car. You have to see it to believe it. All in all it was a good day. Hot but a good day. Being in the car club we've met a lot of really nice people and we get to see lots of great old cars. Who ever knew that I'd love old cars......

Hooters

It's time to blog about the car show. Saturday we went to the Hooters Car show. It was lots of fun there was probably about 10 members from our club there. The day started out pretty good it was nice and cool but then the rain hit about 2 and it got cold believe it or not. There were some beautiful cars there. Three others just like my Chevelle, Red with black stripes. They were in the 1960's and mine's in the 70's. I really like my car it's so much fun to drive. I have to admit I do get nervous driving it around but it's fun. We have one member Sam Austin who is such a hoot. He loves Elvis and by the pictures I've added you can see his car is a tribute to Elvis. He dressed up like Elvis and it was just amazing the way people would look at him. We listened to Elvis all day long. I probably could sing about all his songs now. But we had lots of fun, even if we did get wet.

Mothers Day

Last weekend was Mother's Day and I hope all mom's who have worked so hard, working, washing, cleaning, cooking, to take care of their families had a wonderful day. Most of mine was spent planting 30 squares of grass in the back yard. Those little squares were heavy and so far they are doing nothing. At least I didn't spend that much for them. Chan sent me a card and Andrea told me Happy Mother's Day. It was nice having Andrea home, even if we don't see her that much. She stays in her room most of the time. I see her when she needs food or clothing. She's funny. She did get her hair cut and it's so cute, I love it. I did however refuse to cook on Mother's Day so we had Ajuua's Mexican food. I had to go to Lowe's 3 times, once to buy potting soil, once to go back and find my glasses that blew off in the wind, once to buy grass oh and a 4th time to buy more grass. Now if it will just grow.

This was Chan's first Mother's day and her and Lilly looked so pretty. Lilly was dedicated at church on Sunday. She was finally well just in time for Mothers Day!
Chan said she had to have a screaming fit about the time they were doing the prayer. Leave it to a kid to make everyone know they are there. But aren't they pretty together. It's really amazing how fast Lilly is growing. Everyday she's so different.

Lilly & the Doctors

Today was the big day for Ms. Lilly. They had their visit with the ear specialist first. She does have an ear canal and a ear drum back there, but it's hidden by bone. They can do surgery when she's about 7 or so but it's painful surgery. To me any surgery is painful. The ear specialist told them to consider just a new hearing aid that is coming out that goes under the skin behind the ear. Something to think about. Then they went on to the plastic surgeon. He said he could make her ear look better but not perfect. He said to also wait until she was about 6. He wants to see how it grows in a few years. He also told them to seek a second opinion on the surgery. He felt it could be done. So we'll wait and see. To me she's perfect as she is. A happy beautiful little girl.

My dad had his surgery yesterday and I hope he's feeling better. They had to slice on his head for about 5 hours getting sick cancer off. OUCH!

And Friday Ms. Mae will be home for the summer. And it's her 19th BIRTHDAY! Am I old or what.
